Old Santee Canal Park’s Tinsel Trot is Back for the Holidays
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – It’s time for that holiday twinkle of family-friendly fun at Old Santee Canal Park’s Tinsel Trot fun run and walk on Saturday, Nov. 22. Be one of the first to enjoy a sneak peek of the beautiful lighting displays that line Celebrate The Season’s 2-mile Holiday Lights Driving Tour between the Santee Cooper headquarters and Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner.
Participants can register at www.celebratetheseason.org/events to secure a spot. Race entry is $20 per person and children under 6 years old are free. Register before Oct. 22 and receive a free T-shirt to help show your holiday spirit. The course will be open from 5:30-8 p.m., and those attending can show up anytime during those hours of operation.
As an added treat, there’s a post-race party with a special guest appearance from Santa Claus, children’s activities, food and a DJ. All food proceeds will benefit local non-profit charities.
The Tinsel Trot is the kickoff to the 15 th annual Celebrate The Season charitable holiday event, which begins this year on Friday, Nov. 28. Holiday in the Park is also returning on Dec. 12-13 and 19-20 from 6-9 p.m., with free visits from Santee Claus, crafts, food and festive activities. With sponsor and community support, Celebrate The Season has donated more than $1.3 million to local charities since 2011.
