Santee Cooper Will Hold General Notice Meeting for Its 2024 Annual Integrated Resource Plan Update
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Santee Cooper is providing an opportunity on July 18 for the public to learn more about its resource planning initiatives and to comment on its 2024 Annual Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) Update that will be filed with the Public Service Commission (PSC) of South Carolina in September of this year.
Santee Cooper’s 2023 IRP was submitted to the PSC in May 2023 and approved by the PSC in February 2024. The plan includes a preferred energy portfolio that significantly reduces Santee Cooper’s carbon footprint by closing coal units, adding flexible natural gas generation, and significantly increasing solar power on the system. The preferred portfolio prioritizes flexibility, reliability and affordability in meeting customers’ future power needs. It was the result of 18 months of detailed analysis and extensive public input.
Santee Cooper is required to update its IRP annually and welcomes stakeholders to attend its general notice meeting on July 18 at 1 p.m. The meeting will be virtual to make it more convenient and accessible for all who are interested, and the agenda will cover the assumptions, portfolios, sensitivities, and metrics for the 2024 Annual IRP Update.
