Supporting Students, Schools and Educators

Summer vacations are coming to an end. Soon, the classrooms and halls around South Carolina will fill with excitement as students and teachers return to explore the new school year. We at Santee Cooper know how important and rewarding teaching is. We also know it can be challenging, which is why we support our schools and communities. Our educational outreach team has many opportunities and resources to help students and teachers throughout the year.
Empowering Educators: Professional Development Opportunities
The success of educational outreach starts with the educators themselves. Through workshops, and training sessions, we assist teachers in learning about the resources that are available to create stimulating and impactful experiences for their students. Each summer, Santee Cooper hosts a three-week graduate course, Energy Educators Institute, for educators to explore a real-world understanding of electricity through presentations by energy experts, discussion, field experiences and interactive activities. If you are interested in attending, you may be added to the direct mail list here .
Innovative Student Programs: Fostering a Culture of Curiosity
In Berkeley, Georgetown and Horry counties, we bring our outreach programs to schools. These programs focus on experiential learning with hands-on lessons. We want to inspire students to investigate careers that are available in their communities. Teachers can schedule a classroom presentation by submitting a Classroom Presentation Request Form .
Online Resources and Virtual Learning
Recognizing the importance of flexibility in education, Santee Cooper offers online resources and virtual learning opportunities. From virtual field trips, to engaging webinars, or educational videos, these resources provide teachers with tools to enhance their curriculum and offer students an immersive learning experience, both inside and outside the classroom. Teachers can explore these education resources at Santee Cooper’s Teacher Resources webpage .
As the back-to-school season approaches, we’re extending a warm welcome to all students and teachers in South Carolina. Santee Cooper remains committed to being a guiding light, illuminating the path for our community.
