Old Santee Canal Park’s Tinsel Trot is Back for the Holidays
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Light up your holiday calendar with the twinkle of family-friendly fun at Old Santee Canal Park’s annual Tinsel Trot Holiday Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Nov. 21.
This popular event offers participants a unique “sneaker” peek at the beautiful, twinkling light displays that line the Celebrate The Season Holiday Lights Driving Tour. Everyone is invited to run, walk, dash, dance or prance through the scenic two-mile course.
Participants can register at www.celebratetheseason.org/events to secure a spot. Race entry is $20 per person and children under 6 years old are free. The course will be open from 5:30-8 p.m., and those attending can show up anytime during those hours of operation.
As an added treat, there’s a post-race party with a special guest appearance from Santa Claus, children’s activities, food and a DJ. The food is at an additional cost, and all food proceeds will benefit local non-profit charities.
The Tinsel Trot is the kickoff to Santee Cooper’s 16th annual Celebrate The Season charitable holiday event, which begins this year on Friday, Nov. 27. Holiday in the Park is also returning on Dec. 11-13 and Dec. 18-20 from 6-9 p.m., with visits from Santee Claus, crafts, food and festive activities. With sponsor and community support, Celebrate The Season has donated more than $1.4 million to local charities since 2011.
